Where are you situated?

We have studios in Windsor, Ashgrove and Newstead suburbs of Brisbane Australia.

How much do lessons cost?

Lessons are $40 per half hour over a 12-week block. If you can not commit for 12 weeks. We offer a 9, 6 and 3-week block as well (the cost per lesson rises for the shorter blocks).

If finding a regular time is hard, we can also do one off lessons for $48 per half hour.

What times are you open?

From 9am till 9pm, but available lesson times depend on our current volume.

I am a professional player can you help me?

Our mentoring staff are professional players and have received specific training from IMA to ensure they are well-rounded instrumentalists and musicians. If you have a professional problem, we can help you.

Is it too late for me to take up an instrument?

Definitely not. In fact, studies have shown that as you age, studying music can help stave off dementia. by having music lessons, you’ll be improving your general quality of life in endless ways. For that reason alone you should be playing music. Start right now!

What instruments do you teach?

We offer Guitar, Piano/Keyboard, Male/Female Voice, Bass Guitar, Double Bass, Sax, Flute, Clarinet, Violin, Cello, Trumpet, and Drums. Double Bass, Cello, Trumpet, and Drums are currently only available at our Windsor Store.

What styles of music do you teach?

Pretty much all them, including Pop, Rock, Jazz, Classical, Folk, and Blues

What will I learn at IMA?

At IMA we cover all aspects of music making. This can be the techniques that you need to play or write metal or jazz, or to be a great karaoke singer!

How do I sign up for lessons?

Do I need my own instrument?

Yes. It’s very difficult for you to improve and progress if you don’t have access to your own instrument at home. Come and visit our CBD store we have a music shop below us and can help source your first instrument.

Where is your Windsor store?

Our Windsor store is at 186 Albion Road Windsor, not far from the Windsor bus station and within 700 meters of the Albion train station. See map.

Do you teach AMEB?

Yes, we do, but only if specifically requested by you.

Can you teach music theory?

Yes, we can

How long will it take me to be able to play?

Everyone can play, how long it takes depends on you! Don’t worry, we’ll help make it as quick as it can be!

How good can I get?

How long is a piece of string? Music is simple and you don’t need to be “gifted” to play music well. But even though music is simple it will take you time and regular playing to realise your potential. You can become a fantastic player, it’s all up to you. Book in your first free lesson now!

Do you teach children?

We do. We will also be offering Kinder Music classes in the future for children under 5. We do offer group introductory, improvisation and ensemble lessons. Though not regular group classes for instruments or voice.

Do you offer group lessons?

In a group lesson situation, you will not receive the special attention that you need to unlock your musical potential. Group lessons might seem cheaper. But it will cost you more when you don’t receive the individual attention that you need and your progress is slow. We believe that your needs come first.

What if I don’t have time to practice often?

You won’t progress as fast as you could, but that won’t stop you having a productive half hour lesson once a week. We can also help you with time management and the focus to help you enjoy (and make time for) practice.

Do I need to bring my own instrument?

Yes, but we do have options for using an IMA instrument for some lessons. We’ll place you for a first free lesson with a Mentor that will be able to help you best

What instrument would you recommend for me?

Ask when you make your first appointment and one of our Mentors will make time to give you a call and help you out. Our general rule, pick an instrument with a good brand reputation.
